Artist Denise Nestor has a very enigmatic relationship with nature. She portrays people with animal body parts: often they wear fake furry animal suits on the bottom but sprout actual animal ears on top. In this way, she hybridizes the human form with something untamed...
...But these images--homages to nature she calls "wreaths"--of animals curled up... sleeping? No, let's not be naïve...
These delicate, hushed images haunt me.
Top to bottom: All The Ways To Say I Love You; Bear Suited; Rabbit Girl; untitled (Man With Rabbit Ears); Wreath (February); Wreath (For Dad); Wreath (Memento); Nest
