John Rawlins and Athena Calderone of Rawlins Calderone Design collaborated with Bates Masi Architecture to create a stunning weekend beach house in Amagansett, New York.
I like how the vocabulary of the interior materials and finishes references a beach house/cottage, but it is all done in such a subtle and sophisticated way. And the detail of the woven jute rope on the ceiling is a brilliant touch. Look how it comes down behind the mirror in the master bath and across the window over the tub. I can't help but wonder how the house fared through Sandy... and how it will fare through all the upcoming storms of the same--or worse--magnitude.
