In honor of these waning days of summer, here is the hazy-realist work of Cindy Rizza which recalls my own childhood summers in a tiny town in upstate New York. Perhaps it will strike a chord for many of you as well. I can see my grandmother's backyard, the woven canvas lawn chairs next to the painted metal ones, her aprons drying on the clothes line while I played with my cousins, and of course the sputtering streetlight coming on which was the signal for all of us kids to come inside.
Top to bottom: Silver Lake; Overshadow; Summer's End; Yard; Pansy; Streetlight
